American Lit: First Drafts due Friday at beginning of hour. Finals due Monday, recite Wed.

8s: Outline due today at end of hour. First draft due Friday at end of hour. Finals due Tuesday at beginning of hour. Recite Wednesday.

J/B: Wolverine Weekly

GB: Ch. 10 in class today. Ch. 11 for HW. Chapter 12 for Monday.

From now until Christmas Break

Brit Lit: We'll be reading, analyzing, interpreting Taming of the Shrew and then moving onto Paradise Lost.

9s: Writing our own speeches, then moving onto Poetry (analyzing different styles and techniques in order to recreate lyrical poetry)

American Lit: Writing our own speeches, then moving onto Poetry (Slam Poetry!)

8s: Writing our own speeches, then moving onto Poetry (a WIDE range of poetry - we'll be building our own anthology!)

This year is already shaping up to be great and it hasn't technically even started yet. All classes of mine need to "follow" this blog in order to receive updates regarding their English class(es).

1st hour: British Literature/Creative Writing
3rd hour: English 9
4th hour: American Literature
5th hour: English 8
6th hour: Journalism/Business Writing
7th hour: Contemporary Literary Genres

Updates!

9s: We have finished Great Gatsby and are taking the final test Friday (3/9) After spring break we will begin our writing assignment for the novel and then move onto our next novel!

Basics: We are going to finishing Feed early in the week after Spring Break. We will have a final test and then a writing assignment. If there is enough time left before Junior/Senior projects we will start another novel.

Brits: We are finished with Frankenstein, we have a test review today and test tomorrow. After spring break we will begin our writing assignment for the novel and then move onto our next novel!

Film: The week after spring break (on that friday) your final drafts are due.

10s: We are going to finish Catcher this week. From there, next week we will be studying for our final test and begin writing on this novel. Then we will start our next book!

8s: We have a quiz tomorrow on Lord of the Flies. We we are back from spring break we will continue reading and relating our lives to that of the boys' on the island.

8s: Screenplay and Script for Part One of Lord of the Flies. Filming and editing Thursday, Friday, and present to class Monday and Tuesday.

Class Assignment Update:

9s: Tomorrow we will continue to work in groups to explore our assigned poems to their fullest extent.

Basic: We will continue reading ORP - one day this week we will be taking a break to do a fun mini activity.

Brit: Arts and Crafts time! (Frankenstein trading cards)

Film: Last day to finish vocab flash cards

10s: We will take another look at the slam poems that we watched yesterday and take notes on why they are effective. Then we will practice reading them out loud....over....and over....and over.

8s: Tomorrow we discover the wonderful world of Metaphors.

Welcome Back!

Grades 8, 9, and 10:

We are finishing up poetry this week and the next. Then we will be moving on to novels!

Brit Lit:

We are starting Frankenstein. For the next few days we'll be working diligently on our trading cards. Gather up all the info necessary for your cards. Make them marketable to your classmates!

Film:

We'll be finishing up our vocab terms and then we'll breakdown the first film that we analyze.

Basic:

One Red Paperclip. If you're new to the course, you'll need to read up to page 138. We will review everything before each reading session.
